What We Do

The Wise Foundation

Our mission is to provide meaningful resources to burn survivors and survivor support systems so that together, we can see every burn survivor live life to the fullest: without limitations, fear, or insecurity.

We do this by publishing new video and blog content every month for burn survivors, loved ones or supporters of burn survivors, and organizational leaders that are doing everything in their power to help these two group live their best lives. Explore topics most relevant to you, pass along to friends and family, and watch how the passion and expertise of our speakers and writers impact your life for the better.

Young Adult Conference

Every year for the last five years, we have hosted burn survivors from all over t he country for our annual Young Adult Conference. Speakers, workshop providers, and volunteers prepare rigorous but exciting sessions throughout the conference with the ultimate purpose of helping survivors get equipped for “the real world”

Whether it’s dealing with emotional scars, facing fears, or understanding past experiences, or if its practical details like college applications, personal finance, and proper etiquette, the topics covered in the workshops make this conference a favorite among survivors and is offered at no cost to the survivor.

The Change Challenge

If the Young Adult Conference provides survivors with the knowledge, inspiration, and motivation to set big goals and work towards them, The Change Challenge provides a practical  tool in achieving that goal. Each year, The Wise Foundation partners with a local business to provide one survivor with a free gift to launch them further towards their future.

In 2014 and 2015, The Wise Foundation partnered with Affordable Auto to provide two survivors with a pre-owned vehicle, at no cost to the survivor. In 2016, The Wise Foundation partnered with Community HigherEd Institute to provide one burn survivor with a full scholarship to one of its three colleges, Community Care College, Clary Sage College, and Oklahoma Technical College
